Sara  is an Educational Consultant and Advocate focused on helping children  who are struggling in the school environment.  Sara is dedicated to  helping families receive the best possible intervention and services for  their child.  In addition, Sara provides consultation to professionals  who need additional support in understanding various learners as well as  providing specific accommodations and adaptations within the classroom  setting.  Sara has a specialization in working with students who have  Autism Spectrum Disorders.

Sara began her career as an  Early Childhood Special Education teacher where she adapted curriculum  to meet the needs of individual students.  She also created programs  that were specific for students who had ASD.  She has over 12 years of  experience as a classroom teacher.

Sara obtained her  Bachelors of Science in Special Education with a specialization in Early  Intervention and Family Studies from Lesley College in Cambridge,  Massachusetts.  She holds a M.Ed. with a major in Special Education and a  focus on autism from Wayne State University in Michigan.  Sara is a  Certified Special Education teacher with three Special Education  endorsements: Learning Disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorders, and  Cognitive Impairments.

Sara is also a Certified PLAY  Project Consultant trained by Richard Solomon, M.D.  She is also a  Teaching PLAY Consultant, which focuses on helping educators implement  the PLAY Project model in the classroom.


Services Sara offers include:

  • Advocacy and guidance navigating the school system
  • Reviewing school records
  • School observations
  • Observational report with detailed suggestions for placement, curriculum, classroom, and behavioral support
  • IEP attendance support
  • Support in developing IEP's, 504 plans as well as Behavioral Intervention Plans
  • Consultation for teachers and school staff

Pat  has been with The Ann Arbor Center since 2004, bringing over 30 years  of experience as a corporate administrative and human resource assistant  with a large architectural and engineering design firm.  Pat has also  worked with the Michigan Autism Partnership and with Eastern Michigan  University's autism clinic.  She enjoys working at The Ann Arbor Center  setting up appointments and greeting families.  In her spare time she  enjoys traveling and spending time with her five grandchildren.   Chocolate and a really good bargain are her favorites.
